Today’s lost art work is St. Agnes by Alonso Cano (1601–1667): St. Agnesis one of approximately 417 works of art from the Kaiser Friedrich Museum that was deposited in the Friedrichshain flak tower, or Flakturm, for safekeeping during the Second World War. The painting is presumed to have been destroyed when the tower was burned in May of 1945.

Friedrichshain (1st Generation) G-Tower was partially demolished after the war; one side remains visible. The tower was caught in low-level aerial footage of the ruined city in 1945. Flakturm Friedrichshain were found to be untouched, though civilians, looting or looking for food, were seen there. Civilians were seen there again on 6 May when the building was found to be on fire.
